As the digital revolution continues to reshape economies worldwide, Gauteng is taking proactive steps to equip young South Africans with the skills they need to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). In a joint effort, the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) and the South West Gauteng Technical and Vocational Education and Training College (SWGC) have launched a major skills development initiative targeting 250 prospective learners.
FASSET-SWGC Digital Hub Skills Programme
The newly introduced FASSET-SWGC Digital Hub Skills Programme is designed to address the growing demand for digital expertise in South Africa. The initiative aims to provide accredited and accessible training that empowers participants with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills, enabling them to compete effectively in today’s technology-driven economy.
Programme Highlights
This six-month programme offers learners hands-on experience and training in high-demand digital disciplines, with a strong emphasis on employability and entrepreneurship. Participants will have access to SWGC’s state-of-the-art Digital Hub facilities and gain practical exposure in areas essential to 4IR.
Key skills and modules include:
- AZZURE Cloud Practitioner (Ref: ACP/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- Software Testing (Ref: ST/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- Cyber Security Fundamentals (Ref: CSF/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- UX Design Professionals (Ref: UXDP/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- Data Analytics (Ref: DA/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (Ref: AIML/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- Introduction to Big Data and the Internet of Things (Ref: IBDT/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
- Digital Entrepreneurship (Ref: DE/FassetSWGC/SDHL)
Application Process and Benefits
The programme lasts up to six months and includes a stipend of R2,000 per month to support learners during their training.
Interested candidates must submit a complete application by 26th September 2025, including:
- An application letter specifying the Programme Reference Number
- Matric certificate or NC(V) Level 4 certificate
- Curriculum Vitae, ID, proof of address, and proof of banking
- Basic Computer Literacy Certificate or IT-related training
- SARS confirmation of registration
- Affidavit confirming no prior participation in any FASSET-funded programme
- Certified copy of ID (issued within the last three months)
All applications must be submitted in person at any SWGC campus or WBE office.
